Job Title: Handyperson
Location: Ashridge House, Berkhamsted, HP4 1NS
Reports to: Facilities Engineer
Hours: Alternate Weekend Role (Part time – on a rota basis) from 10:00-18:00

The Opportunity

At Ashridge, we pride ourselves on providing a well-maintained, welcoming, and professional environment for our guests, colleagues, and wider community. We are seeking a reliable and practical Handyperson to support the smooth day-to-day operation of our historic site.

This role plays a key part in ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and presented to a high standard, responding promptly to maintenance needs and carrying out planned preventative tasks. Working closely with the wider onsite team, the successful candidate will bring a hands-on, proactive approach, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent service in everything they do. This is a casual role, there are not any FT positions available at this time.

Responsibilities Include

Carrying out general maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
Light changes
Heating control resets
Door sticking
Resetting trip switches
Minor repairs to fixtures and fittings
Replacing batteries
Basic plumbing tasks
Completing basic PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) checklists and undertaking any necessary remedial actions
Flushing tasks as required
Paintwork touch-ups and basic painting jobs
Working through maintenance task lists during quieter periods
Responding to guest-related maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner

Candidate Profile

Previous experience with DIY and general maintenance tasks
Available to work weekends on a regular, rotational basis
A clear and confident communicator
Reliable, committed, and able to work independently
