ROLE: Water Technician – Level 3
LOCATION: Newcastle Upon Tyne
CONTRACT: Full Time

We're looking for a Water Technician – Level 3 who will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of water treatment systems, ensuring full regulatory compliance and safe water management across customer sites.

Role Responsibilities

Complete allocated water hygiene and treatment jobs within agreed timescales.
Accurately complete and submit all documentation in real time using electronic systems.
Maintain high compliance standards, ensuring no more than one audit failure per year.
Act as the lead technician or responsible person when working as part of a team.
Ensure all works are completed in line with current legislation and company procedures.
Promote and maintain high Health & Safety standards across all tasks and sites.
Plan and organise workloads to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Liaise with client representatives and escalate issues to the Field Manager where required.
Ensure all equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Deliver Level 1 & Level 2 water hygiene activities alongside advanced technical services, including:
- Closed heating and chilled system testing
- Cooling tower weekly and monthly checks
- Boiler water treatment
- Plumbing and water treatment remedial works
- Acid descaling of boilers, cooling towers, and condensers
Interpret results and reports, providing technical recommendations where required.
Support the training and development of junior technicians.

Additional duties may include secondary disinfection testing, plant inspections, silver/copper analysis, BSRIA chemistry and microbiological sampling, and closed‑system dosing.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

Strong, advanced knowledge of water treatment and compliance processes.
Proven experience within Legionella control, water hygiene, or water treatment environments.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capability.
Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
IT‑confident with the ability to use tablet/mobile reporting systems.
Valid UK driving licence and ability to pass DBS/security checks.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
