Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Grounds Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep and enhancement of our outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape maintenance, horticulture, and construction, with the ability to lead a team in maintaining high standards of safety, aesthetics, and functionality. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to manage diverse projects, utilise a range of tools and machinery, and contribute to the overall visual appeal and safety of our grounds.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate daily grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising.
Operate and maintain machinery such as excavators, power tools, and irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance.
Plan and execute landscape projects, including construction of features like pathways, retaining walls, or water features.
Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs or hazards and implement appropriate solutions.
Manage inventory of hand tools, power tools, horticultural supplies, and construction materials.
Lead a team of grounds staff by providing training on equipment use, safety procedures, and horticultural practices.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all activities.
Liaise with clients or management to plan maintenance schedules that minimise disruption while maintaining aesthetic standards.

Skills

Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, horticulture or related fields.
Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating and repairing equipment such as excavators and power tools.
Proficiency in using hand tools for gardening and construction tasks.
Strong understanding of irrigation systems installation and maintenance.
Ability to undertake general maintenance tasks including repairs to structures or equipment.
Knowledge of construction principles relevant to outdoor projects.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Leadership qualities with experience in supervising teams effectively.
Good communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, or team members. This position offers a dynamic environment where expertise in grounds management is valued highly.
