We’re delighted to offer an opportunity to join us as a Process Technician, playing a key role in delivering this essential service.
We’re looking for someone with transferable skills and the drive to develop and succeed in a technical role. You don’t need to come from a water industry background, what matters most is your willingness to learn and grow. You’ll be part of a team responsible for operating and maintaining our wastewater services across various locations across of Derwent, Washington and Coast team. The focus of the role is investigating and managing asset flow at our sewage pumping stations and our sewage treatment works. Helping to us to ensure performance, and compliance are maintained as well as supporting key capital investment projects aimed at upgrading instrumentation. You’ll help raise awareness of flow compliance across the team, embedding best practice and coaching others to strengthen overall capability.
Working collaboratively, you’ll monitor asset performance against key measures, using data and business intelligence systems to carry out detailed desktop investigations. You’ll then follow this up with on-site checks and mechanical inspections to validate findings and ensure data accuracy, documenting outcomes in clear, high-quality reports. These insights will play an important role in shaping improvements and supporting future investment across the network.
The role may involve some out-of-hours work aligned to rainfall patterns, helping to verify performance under different conditions. You’ll be working in a variety of environments, carrying out practical tasks to ensure assets are operating effectively, and undertaking fault-finding investigations whenever issues arise.
As part of the role you will be required to participate in the escalation standby rota to support operational colleagues with issues out of hours.

About you
We’re keen to hear from individuals who can bring a balance of technical capability and strong interpersonal skills. Communication is key, and you’ll need to be confident both verbally and in writing, able to clearly share information and collaborate effectively with others. You’ll also be a proactive problem-solver, able to respond quickly to challenges, assess situations, and implement practical solutions. A strong ability to analyse and interpret data will support you in resolving issues and optimising the performance of plant, assets, and processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking initiative and is eager to learn. You’ll play a role in influencing and shaping ways of working around flow management and compliance, while building your technical knowledge of how wastewater assets are controlled and operated. The role also offers opportunities to broaden your experience by working closely with teams such as Capital Delivery, gaining insight into the commissioning of new instrumentation and the importance of accurate data configuration for regulatory reporting.
A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
