Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, electrical knowledge, and hands-on experience with specialised tools and machinery. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction are paramount.

Duties

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and lorries
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
Fabricate and modify parts as needed using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to perform repairs efficiently
Read and interpret technical schematics to ensure precise repairs and installations
Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify vehicle components
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used
Assist with equipment installation, assembly, and troubleshooting in various operational settings
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies

Requirements

Proven experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance with a strong mechanical background
Electrical experience relevant to vehicle systems is highly desirable
Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams
Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly processes
Familiarity with heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised diagnostic equipment safely
Knowledge of equipment repair procedures including hydraulic systems and electrical components
Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in demanding environments
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients
Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical or electrical trades are advantageous

Pay: £18.00-£22.00 per hour
