Full job description

Based in Newbury, we are a family owned and operated BRC Grade AA ambient food manufacturer of chutneys, condiments, dressings and cooking sauces.

We have a well-established product range and customer base in both the UK and further afield. We are growing rapidly and have excellent future growth potential.

A vacancy has arisen for a permanent Senior HR Advisor to work with the Senior Management Team. This role could be part-time or full-time. Site attendance Monday to Friday is required if part-time.

The role will be varied and offer the opportunity to participate in the development of the wider business. It is a ‘hands on’ role involving working within the senior site team which are committed to maintaining and improving the highest standards of food quality and safety.

This is a full-time permanent role: Monday to Friday, from 7.30am to 4.00pm [some flexibility is possible] with 20 days annual leave in addition to public holidays [pro rata if part-time]. We close on Bank Holidays and between Christmas / New Year each year.

Key responsibilities include:

Run our programme to attract, develop and retain talent
Anticipate the implications of new regulations and to determine the most appropriate method of implementing these changes
Conduct Biannual culture surveys related to our food safety culture; and work with senior colleagues to follow up any issues and suggestions arising.
Maintain systems, reports and process to ensure full compliance with legislation, proactively implementing changes as needed.
Responsibility for the day-to-day HR functions, including clocking in/out processes and reporting, sick leave monitoring, roster planning .
Ensure the processing of new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations is accurate, timely and complete across payroll and HR records
Maintain HR records and personnel files for all ongoing issues
Lead any investigatory matters and build close working relationships with Senior Management to ensure proactive management of potential HR issues
Ensure all performance review processes are maintained with active involvement in issues and resolution
Advise and support managers with employee relations issues including performance management, disciplinary, grievance and redundancy issues
Develop and maintain company policies and procedures, including Employee Handbook
Providing support and coaching to managers during periods of operational change.

Payroll responsibilities

Ensure timely input of monthly payroll data, working closely with supervisors and managers to process monthly payroll data.
Calculation of SSP, Holiday and Company paid leave entitlements.
Managing HMRC people related issues.
With managers implement a new clocking in/out system
Supports the preparation of documents, reports, spreadsheets and presentations for HR leader. This includes preparation for Business Reviews, Talent Reviews, HR Functional Reviews, Strategy Meetings and HR Team meetings.

What you will need

5+ years of work experience desired
Strong attention to detail
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and juggle / coordinate varying tasks with deadlines
High levels of integrity required - ability to provide rapid, accurate response to confidential/sensitive requests and to handle confidential information
Strong interpersonal skills along with presentation, written and verbal communication skills are necessary
A strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
Effectively facilitate discussions with and deliver communications to large groups of people.

Pay: From £35,000.00 per year
