Full job description

Rotari Bakes is a premium, fast-growing bakery specialising in bespoke cakes, focaccia sandwiches, and high-quality desserts.

We are looking for a full-time Bakery Assistant who can confidently support cake decorating, sandwich preparation, and daily bakery operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone reliable, creative, and able to work efficiently in a busy production and retail environment

You will play an important role in maintaining our high standards of quality, presentation, and organisation across all bakery sections.

Main Responsibilities

Cake Decorating & Cake Finishing

Decorate and finish cakes using butter cream, fresh cream , ganache, fresh toppings, and edible decorations
Follow design briefs for bespoke celebration and wedding cakes
Prepare fillings, creams, and basic sponge elements when required
Maintain consistent high presentation standards
Support with cake preparation during busy periods

Sandwich & Savoury Preparation

Prepare fresh focaccia, ciabatta, and other sandwiches daily
Follow recipes and portion control accurately
Ensure all savoury items are presented to premium standard
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of preparation areas

Bakery & Production Support

Assist bakers with weighing, mixing, and preparation tasks
Pack and label products for shop display, collection, and delivery
Ensure correct allergen labelling and date rotation
Support stock rotation and minimise waste
Receive and organise deliveries

Cleaning, Hygiene & Compliance

Follow all food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety procedures
Maintain clean workstations, fridges, and storage areas
Ensure safe handling of allergens and ingredients
Support daily and weekly cleaning schedules

Team Responsibilities

Work closely with bakery
Support during busy service periods
Be flexible and proactive in helping across all bakery sections
Maintain a positive and professional attitude

Requirements

Essential

Full-time availability
Passion for cakes, baking, and food preparation
Strong attention to detail and presentation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Good organisation and cleanliness standards

Preferred

Experience in cake decorating and bakery work
Driving licence
Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to obtain)
