Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Volunteers to assist in supporting children with special educational needs. This voluntary position offers an enriching opportunity to make a positive impact on young learners' lives by providing tailored support within an inclusive educational environment. The role involves working closely with children who have autism, disabilities, or other special educational needs, fostering their development and confidence through personalised assistance. All volunteers will be recognised for their valuable contribution and will gain meaningful experience in special education settings.

Duties

Support children with autism and other disabilities during classroom activities and social interactions
Assist teachers in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies
Provide one-on-one support to children with diverse learning needs, including toddlers and young children
Aid in organising and facilitating engaging learning activities tailored to each child's abilities
Promote inclusive participation by encouraging communication and social skills development
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times, adhering to health and safety guidelines
Assist with basic care routines such as helping children with their personal hygiene or mobility when necessary
Maintain a positive, patient, and encouraging environment to foster confidence and independence in learners

Skills

Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable
Prior teaching or support experience within special education settings is advantageous
Ability to work effectively with children of various ages, including toddlers
Strong communication skills to interact clearly and empathetically with children, parents, and staff
Organised approach to managing multiple tasks while maintaining patience and professionalism
A genuine passion for supporting inclusive education and making a difference in children's lives
Flexibility to adapt support strategies according to individual needs and circumstances
