Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and a dedication to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and ensuring customer satisfaction through meticulous presentation and quality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, uramaki, temaki, chirashi, California rolls and speciality creations, adhering to authentic Japanese techniques.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used in accordance with food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised work station in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate service times and ensure timely delivery of dishes.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for restocking.
- Innovate new sushi recipes to enhance menu offerings while respecting traditional methods.
- Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques.
- Uphold the restaurant’s reputation by consistently delivering high-quality dishes with attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a reputable restaurant or sushi bar.
- Formal training or certification in Japanese cuisine or culinary arts is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sushi ingredients, knife skills, and presentation techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Creative flair with a passion for authentic Japanese cuisine.

Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
