Job Overview
Lanzab Limited is seeking experienced and reliable Multi Trade Operatives to support our growing works across council housing, legal disrepair, reactive maintenance, planned works and refurbishment projects.
We are looking for versatile tradespeople from a range of main trade backgrounds, including carpentry, plastering, plumbing, tiling, decorating, flooring, general building, kitchen and bathroom repairs, and building fabric maintenance.
The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out a variety of repair, maintenance, making-good and installation tasks to a high professional standard. This role requires a proactive approach, good problem-solving ability, strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
You do not need to cover every trade. However, you must be competent in your own trade areas, honest about your limits, and able to deliver clean, safe and tenant-ready workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Carry out multi trade maintenance, repair and installation works across occupied and void properties.
- Complete works in line with schedules of work, job packs, expert reports and site instructions.
- Carry out works across your competent trade areas, which may include carpentry, plastering, plumbing, tiling, decorating, flooring, general building repairs, kitchen repairs, bathroom repairs and associated making good.
- Diagnose issues on site and identify practical solutions.
- Report additional works, access issues, tenant concerns, variations and health and safety matters promptly.
- Take clear before, during and after photographs as evidence of works completed.
- Complete basic job sheets, sign-off sheets and records of work undertaken.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, works completed and any issues encountered.
- Work safely and ensure all works are completed in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Protect tenants’ homes, belongings and communal areas during the works.
- Keep working areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Liaise professionally with tenants, clients, supervisors and other trades.
- Work independently with minimal supervision where required.
- Support other operatives or small teams on larger jobs when needed.
Required Experience
Applicants should have:
- Proven experience as a trade or multi trade operative.
- A good standard of workmanship in their main trade.
- Competence across one or more additional trade areas.
- Experience working in occupied properties.
- Ability to follow written scopes of work and instructions.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- A professional and respectful approach with tenants and clients.
- Good timekeeping and reliability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Own hand tools.
- Honest understanding of what works they can and cannot competently undertake.
Preferred but Not Essential
- Own van.
- CSCS card.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- Manual Handling.
- Working at Height.
- Relevant trade qualifications.
- Social housing, council or housing association experience.
- Legal disrepair experience.
- Reactive maintenance or planned works experience.
- Experience supervising or assisting small teams.
- Ability to read basic drawings, schedules or technical instructions.

Pay & Working Arrangements
- Competitive rates depending on trade skillset, experience and quality of work.
- Labour-only subcontractor arrangements available.
- Full-time and ongoing work opportunities available for suitable operatives.
- CIS deductions will apply where relevant.
- Weekly invoicing/payment arrangements to be agreed.
- Operatives must supply their own tools unless otherwise agreed.
