Job Title: Work Placement Coordinator

Department: Health & Social Care

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £28,485 to £30,390 per annum

Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

Pension: NEST Pension Scheme

The Role

Middlesbrough College has an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised individual with strong communication and relationship‑building skills to join as a Work Placement Coordinator. In this role you will support Healthcare students in securing and successfully completing meaningful industry placements, you will work closely with students, curriculum teams and employers to identify and develop placement opportunities, monitor student progress, and ensure learners gain valuable, high-quality workplace experiences.

Key Responsibilities

To maintain, review, develop and increase the work placement opportunities across a range of courses in the department including T Levels.
To support, monitor and record the progress of students in their workplace setting and reviewing SMART targets for students on the college systems.
To meet with students prior to their placements and discuss their needs and college’s expectations of students whilst on placement.
To facilitate interview and recruitment processes with employers where required to secure work placement opportunities for students.

Qualifications

Good general education to at least Level 3 or equivalent.
Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
IOSH (Managing Safely) qualification or willing to work towards.
Assessor qualification or willing to work towards.

Experience

Good general education to at least Level 3 or equivalent.
Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).

Knowledge & Skill

IT skills appropriate to the needs of the post.
Ability and the communication skills to build relationships, in particular with students from age 16 to adults and employers.
Knowledge and understanding of the further education curriculum, including T Levels (Desirable).
Proven ability in administration or project work and good written communication skills.
Full UK driving licence – ideally with own transport.
