Role Summary

Due to the continued growth of our Fresh Start Education Programme, delivered in partnership with the Local Authority and mainstream schools, we are seeking an Educational Support Worker to join our team.

The Educational Support Worker will provide educational, emotional, and pastoral support to children and young people accessing our education and alternative provision programmes. Working closely with teachers, education professionals, schools, families, and external agencies, the post holder will help learners overcome barriers to education, improve engagement, and achieve positive outcomes.

Success in this role will be demonstrated through positive learner engagement, improved attendance and participation, achievement of individual learning targets, effective implementation of support plans, and the ability to build trusted relationships with young people and stakeholders.

The role is an integral part of our education team and contributes directly to CCSE's mission of providing high-quality, inclusive educational opportunities that enable young people to thrive both academically and personally.

Responsibilities

Provide educational, emotional, and pastoral support to learners accessing education and alternative provision programmes.
Support learners on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to achieve individual learning targets and outcomes.
Assist with the delivery of personalised learning programmes, EHCP provision, EOTAS packages, and enhanced support plans.
Encourage learner engagement, attendance, motivation, and positive participation in education.
Work collaboratively with teachers and education professionals to deliver learning activities and interventions.
Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, confidence, and personal development.
Identify barriers to learning and contribute to strategies that support learner progress.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, interventions, and learner outcomes.
Communicate effectively with parents, carers, schools, local authorities, and other professionals.
Support educational visits, enrichment activities, holiday programmes, and wider organisational events.
Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare responsibilities are upheld at all times.
Participate in training, supervision, and continuous professional development opportunities.
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of CCSE's educational provision.

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum two years' experience working with children and young people in education, support, community, youth work, or alternative provision settings.
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries.
Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, or other barriers to education.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive and professional relationships with children, families, schools, and partner agencies.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable

Teaching Assistant, Learning Support, Youth Work, Education, or related qualification (Level 2 or above).
Experience working within alternative provision, EHCP delivery, or EOTAS packages.
Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support strategies.
Safeguarding Level 1 or Level 2 training.
Understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
Full UK driving licence.
