JOB TITLE: Evidential Property Administrator
SCALE: 3
SUPERVISION AND CONTROL: Property Team Leader, Justice Department
PLACE OF WORK: Central Store, Northampton
HOURS OF WORK: 37
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To transport and administer evidential property, ensuring records are accurately recorded on Property Systems, in line with Force policy and procedures.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete vehicle checks then transport and track Detained Property for delivery or collection, between stores including temporary and bulk stores, and the central store, in accordance with Force procedures, ensuing property safes, stores and keys are left secure.
Run reports, including for items to be delivered to, or collected from stores.
Store property in the appropriate location, including the handling and storage of high value items such as cash, valuables, drugs, ammunition and firearms
Manage team mail and incoming telephone enquiries, including emails, post, enquiries or letters from public, receipts, etc. Task OIC's where appropriate and update systems as required.
Manage ‘return to owner’ enquiries, in line with Force procedures, including managing an electronic diary for owner collections from an agreed station, or for delivery to a police officer to arrange the return.
Manage Detained Property filing, including the ‘scan and bin’ function, saving or shredding documents as required, to ensure accurate audit trails are kept in accordance with Force procedures.
Allocate NICHE tasks, requesting officers review and advise on the retention, disposal or return of property. Update Niche with officer responses and complete the physical disposal.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Evidential Property Administrator
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Excellent administration skills, including scanning and filing letters & emails, confidently working simultaneously with a number of different electronic email folders and files.
Proven computer skills, with knowledge and experience of Windows based applications.
Good knowledge of audit processes.
Experience of team working demonstrated by a flexible attitude.
Good communication skills, demonstrating an ability to relate to a broad spectrum of people.
Experience of delivering results through effective planning and organisation of own workload, demonstrating the ability to prioritise.
Physically fit and able to move property both within and between property stores, including working at heights using step ladders, and prepared to train and use a ‘mobile elevated working platform (MEWP).
Be in possession of a full driving licence and prepared to complete and successfully pass any Police or van, driving or practical assessments, and use a Force van to transport property.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a level of awareness of equality and diversity issues appropriate to this role.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
Knowledge and experience of Police IT systems.
Knowledge of Police Property Act and MoPI Guidelines.

Recruitment and Selection Policy

Please be aware that the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and Northamptonshire Police are separate employers. Although Police internal vacancies are open to OPFCC staff and vice versa, if you are successful, the change of employer will require a longer onboarding process and you will receive a new contract and payroll number. Service with either employer can be carried over as continuous service.
Police Barred and Advisory lists
Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the Police and OPFCC for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
