Full job description

A position (part time considered) has become available for a Laboratory / Admin Assistant in a specialist poultry and game bird veterinary practice and laboratory.

Objectives

Receptionist and admin duties including:

- Greeting clients

- Answering the phone

- Diary management

- Postage duties

- Taking client payments (card and cash)

- Typing reports

- Data entry / Excel

- Booking out medicines

- Using our practice management system

- Any other jobs necessary to the running of the practice

Laboratory assistant duties including:

- Sample handling

- Bacteriology

- Microscopy

- Parasitology including faecal egg counting

- Assisting vets with post-mortem examinations

- Keeping the lab and PM room clean and tidy

The candidate must:

- Be able to work independently and as part of a team

- Have the ability to prioritise tasks and complete them with attention to detail within a busy environment

- Have good IT skills

- Have a good telephone manner

- Have a friendly, positive attitude and good client skills

- Have a willingness to learn and the ability to follow protocols

Laboratory / veterinary practice experience is preferred but not essential.

Hours and salary are negotiable depending on the experience of the candidate.
