This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting residents who face barriers to employment. Working as part of a multi-agency approach, you will engage with individuals and communities, helping them build confidence, overcome challenges, and progress towards sustainable work opportunities.

About the Role

As an Engagement Officer, you will work directly with residents to identify their needs and support them on their journey into employment. You will play a key role in delivering the Work and Health Programme, working closely with partners, employers and community organisations.

Key responsibilities include:

Identifying and engaging eligible participants within the community and making appropriate referrals
Undertaking in-depth assessments to understand barriers such as health, housing, finance and wellbeing
Developing and delivering tailored action plans to support individuals into employment
Promoting the programme to stakeholders, including employers, community groups and partners
Supporting delivery of employment hub activities such as events, interviews and CV support
Working with employers to create opportunities including work experience, placements and jobs
Working collaboratively within a multi-agency team to achieve positive outcomes.

Please note this is a fixed term opportunity for 12 months, reflecting the current funding period for this programme.

Were Looking For

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is passionate about supporting people and improving outcomes for local communities.

You will have:

Experience working with individuals facing complex barriers to employment
Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people and organisations
Experience of working collaboratively with partners across public, private or voluntary sectors
A good understanding of employability, health-related barriers and local support pathways
Strong organisational skills and confidence using IT systems
A proactive, solution-focused approach and a commitment to equality and inclusion.

Additional requirements:

Ability to travel across the borough as part of the role.

As this is a fixed-term post, secondment opportunities will be considered for internal employees. Please obtain prior approval from your current line manager before completing the application. For further information, please refer to the councils secondment policy.
