Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a bustling environment, providing quality beverages and food to our valued customers. Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. The successful applicant will play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

Serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, adhering to company standards and recipes
Assist customers with their orders, providing friendly and attentive service
Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or snacks as required
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including counters, equipment, and seating areas
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Manage cash register operations accurately, including handling payments and giving correct change
Restock supplies and ingredients to ensure the shop runs efficiently during busy periods
Support team members during peak times by serving customers promptly and courteously
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to create a safe environment for staff and customers

Qualifications

Previous experience as a barista or in food serving roles is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is preferred
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour to enhance customer experience
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
Organised with attention to detail to ensure high standards of cleanliness and service are maintained at all times
