Area Cleaning Supervisor
Location: Essex and surrounding areas
Salary: £25,000 per year
Hours: Full-time, with flexibility required around client and site needs
Neatwork Group is a growing facilities services business providing contract cleaning, grounds maintenance and external cleaning across Essex, London and Kent.
As we continue to grow, including taking on further school and commercial cleaning contracts, we are looking for a reliable, hands-on Area Cleaning Supervisor to join our team.
This is not a desk-based role. You will be out supporting sites, covering cleaning shifts when needed, helping maintain high standards and working closely with our Contracts Manager to make sure our cleaning contracts run properly.
The Role
A major part of this role will involve personally covering cleaning shifts when cleaners are absent, on holiday or when a site needs extra support. You will also help arrange cover where appropriate, but must be happy to step into shifts yourself and lead from the front.
You will float between sites carrying out quality checks, cleaning audits, deep cleans, touch-up work and general operational support. This could include floor cleaning in schools, bringing a site back up to standard, helping with the mobilisation of new contracts, covering evening cleaning shifts, or supporting a site following a complaint or issue.
You will be responsible for helping maintain consistently high cleaning standards across your allocated sites, identifying issues early and making sure actions are completed.
You will work very closely with our Contracts Manager and will have genuine progression opportunities into further management responsibility as the business continues to grow.
Main Responsibilities
- Cover cleaning shifts across school, office, communal and commercial sites when required
- Help arrange and coordinate cover for holiday, sickness and short-notice absences
- Carry out deep cleans, floor cleans, periodic cleaning and site recovery work
- Carry out regular site audits and quality checks
- Identify areas where standards need improving and take action to resolve them
- Carry out touch-up cleaning and resolve issues before they become larger problems
- Help maintain high cleaning standards across all sites
- Support new contract mobilisations, including initial cleans, staff inductions, stock, equipment and site set-up
- Train and support new cleaners on site and help maintain consistent standards
- Check cleaning equipment, stock levels, keys, access arrangements and site documentation
- Report quality, staffing, equipment or client issues clearly to the Contracts Manager
- Help deal with urgent issues, complaints and operational problems professionally
- Support cleaning staff day to day and help create a positive, reliable team culture
- Keep basic records of site visits, audits, issues found, actions taken and cover completed
- Work flexibly across our client base, including occasional early mornings, evenings or later shifts where required
About You
We are looking for someone dependable, practical and switched on. You will need to be comfortable working independently, dealing with different people and taking ownership when something needs sorting.
You should have:
- Previous commercial cleaning experience
- Experience supervising cleaners or running cleaning sites would be an advantage
- A strong eye for detail and pride in high cleaning standards
- The ability to step into a shift and lead from the front when required
- Confidence speaking with cleaners, clients and managers
- Good organisation skills and the ability to prioritise urgent issues
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Flexibility to travel between sites across Essex and surrounding areas
- A willingness to work outside standard 9–5 hours when client requirements or cover needs demand it
- A positive, calm approach when dealing with pressure or short-notice issues
Experience in schools, offices, communal cleaning or multi-site cleaning would be beneficial, but the right attitude, reliability and willingness to get stuck in is just as important.
What We Offer
- Salary of £25,000 per year
- Pension scheme
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays
- A varied, hands-on role with no two days the same
- The opportunity to work closely with our Contracts Manager and Directors
- Genuine progression into a more senior management role as Neatwork Group continues to grow
- A supportive, ambitious company where good people can build a long-term career
To apply, please send your CV along with a short note explaining why you would be suited to a hands-on, mobile cleaning supervision role.
