Criminal Law Paralegal

A reputable law firm in Kent is in need of an additional Paralegal to deal with a varied caseload of criminal defence matters.

JOB TITLE: Criminal Law Paralegal - Kent
LOCATION: Kent (Commutable between Gravesend, Chatham, Maidstone and surrounding areas)
SALARY: Dependent on experience and qualifications

The Role:

The appointed Paralegal will be expected to deal with both publicly and privately funded clients. The team are looking for a Paralegal who is looking to further their career within this area of law. The firm provides unparalleled expertise in all criminal defence matters including fraud, domestic violence, police station advice, motoring offences and general criminal matters.

Additional responsibilities will include inputting data to a specialised case management system, drafting legal letters to clients and other parties, applying for legal aid on behalf of new clients and preparing files for advocates at court. The role will also involve the Paralegal meeting new clients in person and speaking to clients on the phone in order to answer queries as supported by Solicitors and Fee Earners.

The Candidate:
The appointed Paralegal should preferably have experience working within a Legal Aid firm and/or have secretarial or legal qualifications. As a Paralegal you will be based locally and must be able to demonstrate initiative and organisational skills, in return you will be provided with exceptional career prospects and experience within the criminal law firm.
