Purpose/Summary
Reporting to the eCommerce & Operations Director, we are looking for an experienced and commercially driven eCommerce Trading Manager to join our team and take charge of the day-to-day trading performance of our website and owned marketing channels. From onsite merchandising to email, SMS and app activity, you will ensure every touchpoint is working hard to convert visitors into loyal customers, whilst retaining existing customers, at a fast-growing online retailer.
You will bring together data, creativity, and customer insight to drive performance, balancing quick wins with long-term improvements. Working closely with our eCommerce, Marketing, Content, Brand and Operations teams, you will ensure our comms are planned and executed effectively, helping to shape and execute a trading strategy that supports our ambitious growth plans.
This is a commercially focused role that’s ideal for someone who loves data, understands customer behavior, and enjoys getting stuck into the detail. Experience in SEO, Google Analytics and paid search advertising is desirable to work closely with our 3rd party paid marketing agency to update them on future products, brands, plans and promotions, especially around our peak trading periods.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment; you will be responsible for implementing eCommerce efficiency to exceed our customers ever growing expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the execution of our online trading calendar, aligning campaigns across the website, email, SMS, and app
- Optimise the performance of product categories, landing pages and promotions across all digital platforms
- Own and analyse Key Performance Indicators (including conversion, AOV, revenue, margin etc.) — turning insight into action
- Maximise online sales performance through effective day to day adaptations of the site, increasing conversion, AOV, promotional activity and minimising customer bounce rates
- Plan and execute targeted campaigns using platforms like Klaviyo, with a focus on segmentation and conversion
- Collaborate with the Brand team to align product strategy, availability, and pricing
- Work with Content and Marketing teams to ensure customer journeys are seamless, engaging, and optimised
- Run weekly trading reviews and performance updates with key stakeholders
- Champion a test-and-learn approach to CRO across site and owned channels
- Stay informed on competitor activity, customer trends, and new eCommerce opportunities
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience in a similar eCommerce trading or commercial role (typically at least 3 years experience)
- A successful track record in improving online sales performance and delivering growth
- Strong understanding of customer behavior and digital trading principles across multiple platforms
- An understanding of UX best practices to improve the customer journey
- Experienced in using Shopify and Email Marketing/CRM platforms to plan, deliver, and optimise trading activity across web and owned marketing channels
- Data-led mindset with hands-on experience in Google Analytics (GA4), Excel, and reporting tools
- Commercially astute with an eye for opportunity and a focus on delivering results
- Excellent communicator and collaborator who enjoys working cross-functionally
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for eCommerce, innovation, and the customer experience
- Positive attitude with high level of motivation, initiative and creativity
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite, most notably Excel
- Flexibility in terms of role, supporting the wider business and working hours where required (e.g. Black Friday)
Desirable:
- Experience of managing individuals and teams
- Experience of 3rd party marketing technology providers/tools, including bid management solutions, personalisation providers, workflow and business intelligence tools
- An understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and best practices
- Design and basic programming knowledge e.g. HTML
- Working knowledge of on-site analytics solutions such as Hotjar or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Retail Media activities and campaigns
- Working knowledge of Affiliate networks
- Experience of using WHM systems (such as Despatch Cloud)
- Experience of working in the health & beauty / cosmeceuticals industry or an interest in skincare & cosmeceutical products
