Role: Support Worker – Rapid Response Team

Salary £33,472 per annum

Hours: 37.5 per week (The role is a mixture of daytime and nighttime outreach to support people sleeping rough on the TfL network)

Location: Across London

About this role…

We are looking for a Support Worker to join the Rapid Response Team.

The Thames Reach Outreach teams operate across London and help those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond rapidly and work flexibly to reach people. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those offering immigration support.

We will not accept applications where Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used to assist with completing the competency questions.

You will:

Nighttime outreach – respond to referrals and reports of rough sleeping activity across the TfL public transport network and provid support with monitoring hotspot sites such as stations and bus garages.
Work alongside more senior colleagues to identify the fastest and most appropriate routes away from the streets
Manage a small caseload of clients and provide short term interventions, supporting them to access local services and accommodation
Help vulnerable clients navigate complex housing crises in a compassionate and assertive way
Complete all admin related to the role, including keeping confidential casework information updated on a database

You will have:

People skills – successful candidates are able to establish professional rapport with vulnerable people, be supportive, have boundaries and positive, drawing on people’s strength to help them move forward
Independent working – you will organise your workload and carry out most of the casework independently with the support of a management team
Night outreach – you will be confident in working alone or in pairs at night, finding and assessing rough sleepers both in stations and on the street
Administration – you’ll be expected to use a smartphone and computer to update databases and complete all your admin
