Job Description – Student Content Creator

Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) is an independent charity representing and supporting over 13,000 students at the University of Dundee. Every student is automatically a member - and everything we do is shaped by their voices.

DUSA employs around 180 permanent and student staff and operates year-round, delivering facilities, hospitality, entertainment, representation and support services seven days a week. Our focus is simple:putting students at the centre of every decision and creating an experience they are proud to be part of.

The Role

Reports to our Senior Social Media & Web Officer.

The Student Content Creator will play a key role in bringing the DUSA student experience to life across our digital channels. Working as part of the Marketing & Communications team, you will help develop and deliver engaging content that showcases student voices, promotes events, and supports campaigns across social media and other digital platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing and communications, with the chance to shape how over 18,000 students connect with their Students’ Association. No two shifts will look the same — from covering a society event one day to producing a short-form video the next.

The Person

As a Student Content Creator within the Communications & Marketing team at DUSA, you will create content for a wide range of activities and experiences such as Freshers’ Week, Student Elections, welfare campaigns, and club and society activity.

You are a social native - someone who understands what makes content resonate on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. You bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine connection to student life. You are fully immersed in the latest social media trends and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, adapting your approach to suit different briefs and audiences.

The opportunity is there for you to really make this role your own and develop your skills while contributing to something that matters to your fellow students.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience

Have experience using social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, with an understanding of what makes content perform well.
Be comfortable creating content using tools such as Canva, CapCut, InShot, Premiere Pro, or similar.
Have a creative mindset with a strong eye for visual storytelling.
Be comfortable on camera and willing to feature in video content.
Be able to manage their time effectively, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Be available to work some evenings and weekends, particularly during events such as Freshers’ Week and Student Elections.
Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and team members.
Have good written and oral communication skills.
Photography, videography, or basic video editing experience is desirable but not essential.

Hours of Work

This is a zero hours / casual post. Shifts will vary week to week in line with operational requirements and cover a combination of days, evenings, and weekends. Peak periods include Freshers’ Week, DUSA Elections, and key campaign periods throughout the academic year. We aim to work around your studies wherever possible.

Rate of Pay

The role is remunerated at the current National Minimum Wage at £12.71.

Holiday Pay

Accrued at 12.07% of total hours worked, paid monthly.
