Here at Electricity Asset Services (EAS), we are currently looking for an experienced 32-Tonne Vacuum Excavator Operator to join our family-run business. This role will support our growing portfolio of utility, electricity and infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

EAS specialises in procurement, design, management and execution of all works associated with High and Low Voltage underground electricity networks on behalf of major framework contractors and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
We have over 40 years combined experience providing services across the HV/LV cable jointing and terminating, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, 24-hour emergency call out, project management and more. Purpose
As a Vacuum Excavator Operator, your responsibilities will include operating and maintaining a 32-tonne vacuum excavator, carrying out safe excavation activities around underground utilities, supporting project delivery teams and ensuring all works are completed in accordance with company procedures, client requirements and industry best practice.
Overview of Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a 32-tonne vacuum excavator safely and efficiently on utility and infrastructure projects.
- Undertake non-destructive excavation works around live underground services.
- Carry out daily vehicle and plant inspections, recording and reporting any defects.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Assist with locating, exposing and protecting underground assets prior to construction activities.
- Maintain plant, equipment and work areas to the highest standards of housekeeping and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Complete all required documentation, vehicle checks and site records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Liaise professionally with clients, DNO representatives and other stakeholders on site.
- Support mobilisation and demobilisation of plant and equipment as required.
- Promote a positive safety culture in line with EAS values and standards.
Essential Requirements
- CPCS or NPORS Vacuum Excavator Operator qualification.
- HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
- Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience operating vacuum excavation equipment.
- Good understanding of underground utility networks and safe digging practices.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work away when required.
Desirable Requirements
- EUSR Utility SHEA.
- NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
- CSCS Card.
- Experience working on DNO, utility, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
