Full job description

Being a post-graduate qualified practitioner graduate qualified health care professional (e.g. nurse, social worker, occupational therapist) or will have substantial CAMHS clinical, management and leadership experience. They will be fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g. HCPC, NMC).

You will have extensive clinical experience working with children and young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties.

You will provide operational and clinical leadership to the care pathway and all CYPMHS clinicians working in the care pathway. They will be responsible for referrals, assessment, treatment, and outcome measurement in the care pathway.

You will ensure that a high quality, timely, accessible, and evidence-based service is available to all service users who need it and who use the care pathway.

Our teams support children, young people and adults with a wide range of mental health needs. We also provide specialist services, including all-age eating disorder services and neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people, such as autism and ADHD.

Post holders operating at Band 7 in a clinical or clinical leadership role must be able to demonstrate adherence and competence to evidence-based clinical models, hold an autonomous caseload, clinically supervise and register with/meet the requirements of any applicable accrediting body.
You must demonstrate significant experience and will be from a range of backgrounds with specific, specialist knowledge in relation to aspects of social care, education, SEN/D or educational healthcare plans as well as CAMHS.
You will establish and maintain excellent working relationships with wider mental health and wellbeing services and ensure adherence to evidence-based treatments by all clinical staff within the care pathway.
You will manage the referrals and caseload for the care pathway.
You will be directly involved in delivering a range of therapeutic interventions, which may include parent work, group work, school observations of children, short term CYPMHS input and specialist psychological treatments. They will be an effective care pathway leader working on their own initiative. They will spend 80% of their time working clinically, allowing 20% for care pathway leadership.
To identify need in order to plan care and treatment for young people and families as part of the transition from Serenity Path to Community CAMHS Teams, and to support Community and CREST team and care plans for families to prevent hospital admission where assessed as necessary.
To lead the transition team in care planning for individuals' post discharge needs.
To work collaboratively with MDTs in CAMHS services, to lead and support the safe transitions of young people between services.
To deliver evidence based highly specialist treatment interventions, on a one-to-one, family, parent or group basis both as part of inpatient and community teams to promote recovery. Within both inpatient and community settings.
To be responsible for the assessment of mental health risk factors formulation relating to children and young people, this might require rapid, independent decision-making or judgements without immediate access to supervision. Therefore, as well as possessing the ability to anticipate and resolve problems independently to establish safety and ongoing patient care, skill is also required in consulting with other experts and professionals where appropriate.
Line manage the direct reports with outcomes and care options and alternatives.
Lead in the management and monitoring of the planning, implementation and evaluation of group and individualised care across the Service.
To work collaboratively with CAMHS, local authority and education services to ensure a comprehensive pre-admission and discharge plan.
To attend and when necessary, lead and participate in ward rounds, clinical case meetings and MDT/Ward rounds reviews both within inpatient and Community Teams to ensure the needs of children, young people and their families/carers are addressed to support their recovery.
Establish and maintain links with social care, schools, Adult Mental Health Teams and CAMHS, thereby ensuring seamless short-term care and treatment of each young person.
To mentor nursing students on placement within the service.
Management of Student Nurses and Mental Health Support Workers including direct reports.
To manage the team's caseload of young people in transition from inpatient care and to provide follow up appointments meeting their needs.
To lead in teaching staff of all levels and in other organisations and to actively promote the development of the service.
