Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Years Practitioner (SCQF level 7 or above) to join our childcare team 20-40 hours per week (between 7.30am-6.00pm Monday-Friday).

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, supporting their developmental needs through engaging activities and personalised care. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your management and leadership skills within a dynamic early childhood education setting.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development
Supervise children during playtime, meals, naps, and outdoor activities to ensure their safety at all times
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication
Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily routines
Support the implementation of nursery policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards
Assist in organising learning environments that are stimulating, safe, and welcoming
Contribute to team meetings and participate in ongoing professional development sessions
Manage behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement techniques
Occasionally support with administrative tasks related to childcare management

Skills

Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early childhood education environment
Strong management and leadership abilities to guide both children and team members effectively
Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to engage confidently with children, parents, and colleagues
Knowledge of childcare regulations and best practices in early years education
Ability to organise activities that cater to diverse learning needs
Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or resources when necessary
Compassionate nature with patience and resilience in challenging situations
Organised approach to managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously
