Due to promotion within our group, we are seeking a General Manager to oversee the operations of Glen Mhor Hotel & Apartments and Uile-bheist Distillery & Brewery, located on the banks of the River Ness in the heart of Inverness.
This is a unique leadership role that combines a well-established 4-star hotel, luxury apartments, a brewery, distillery, visitor attraction, restaurant and bar operation, all underpinned by an industry-leading commitment to sustainability and innovation.
About Us
The Glen Mhor Hotel & Apartments comprises ten Victorian buildings offering over 110 bedrooms and luxury apartments in one of Inverness's most iconic riverside locations.
Adjacent to the hotel is Uile-bheist Distillery & Brewery, producing award-winning craft beer and whisky while welcoming visitors from around the world through its tours, experiences and taproom. Powered by our own on-site, sustainable energy centre, we seamlessly blend old-world Highland hospitality with low-carbon, artisan craft production.
As part of the growing Turas Hotels portfolio, the business benefits from the support of dedicated group-wide teams in HR, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Management, enabling our General Managers to focus on operational excellence, team development, commercial performance and exceptional guest experiences.
The Opportunity
As General Manager, you will be fully supported by the Turas Hotels group's extensive infrastructure. You will work side by side with our dedicated, centralised support teams in HR, Accounts, Marketing, Sales and Revenue to drive the success of Glen Mhor and Uile-bheist.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the General Manager will be responsible for the successful operation and financial performance of both Glen Mhor Hotel & Apartments and Uile-bheist Distillery & Brewery.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across all departments, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong commercial results and a positive workplace culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all day-to-day operations across the Glen Mhor Hotel and apartments, Uile-bheist distillery, brewery, visitor attraction and food and beverage outlets.
- Delivering financial performance through effective budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Driving revenue growth across accommodation, food and beverage, events, retail and visitor experiences.
- Working closely with central Sales, Marketing and Revenue teams to maximise occupancy, direct bookings and commercial opportunities.
- Developing and inspiring high-performing teams through effective leadership, coaching and succession planning.
- Maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction standards and protecting the reputation of the business.
- Championing sustainability initiatives and ensuring continued leadership in environmental best practice.
- Building strong relationships with local stakeholders, tourism partners and the wider community.
What You’ll Do
- Drive the Estate’s Vision: Oversee the daily operations of both the 4-star hotel accommodation and the Uilebheist "Brewstillery" visitor experience.
- Collaborate with Group Experts: Work closely with the Turas Hotels;
- centralised support teams and our dedicated HR for staff
- Accounts for financial clarity
- Marketing, Sales and Revenue management to maximise your market reach.
- Grow a Unique Business: Maximise diverse revenue streams - from occupancy and direct bookings to distillery tours, taproom sales and exclusive stay-and-taste packages.
- Champion Sustainability: Working with our Sustainability Director, you will work on our industry-leading green initiatives, ensuring our energy-efficient systems run smoothly and our eco-story is shared with the world.
- Inspire a Diverse Team: Develop a supportive, high-performing culture across traditional hospitality staff and creative production teams through effective leadership, coaching and succession planning.
- Maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction standards and protecting the reputation of the business.
Who You Are
We are looking for a confident and experienced hospitality leader with a strong track record of delivering operational excellence and commercial success.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An Experienced Leader: You have a proven track record as a General Manager or Hotel Manager in an upscale, boutique, or high-volume 4-star property.
- A Collaborative Executive: You thrive in a group structure, knowing how to utilize central support (HR, Finance, Sales, Marketing) to streamline operations and hit property targets.
- F&B Savvy: Strong high-quality food and beverage management and operational knowledge.
- A Strategic Thinker: You know how to manage a complex P&L across different business sectors and spot clever cross-promotional opportunities.
- Adaptable & Hands-On: You are as comfortable analysing revenue data with group analysts as you are supporting the team on a busy Friday night in the taproom.
- A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Experience working within multi-site or group structures would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A hands-on approach combined with strategic thinking and sound decision-making abilities.
· Previous experience within a distillery, brewery or visitor attraction would be beneficial but is not essential.
