Herdsperson – Near Glastonbury

We’re looking for a Herdsperson with a strong passion for animal health and welfare to join our dairy team in a large-scale farming and processing business near Glastonbury.

The Business

800 Holstein Friesian cows
Müller Direct contract
Milking 3x daily on a 60-point rotary
In-house forage production

The Role:

Focused on cow health and fertility within a progressive dairy team
Shared team responsibilities with opportunities to develop herd management and husbandry skills

Key responsibilities

Manage cow health and fertility, including AI and vet visits
Support mobility management and provide first-aid foot trimming cover
Assist with routine farm work, including milking and calf feeding
Take part in an out-of-hours/on-call rota
Use Uniform Agri & Dataflow software
Provide relief TMR feeding cover where required

Ideal candidate

Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Good understanding of dairy cow health and welfare
Experience with high-performance herds
AI certified with recent practical experience (preferred)
Foot trimming skills or willingness to learn (preferred)
Experience in milking and calf feeding
Keen to develop professionally and contribute to the team
Full UK driving licence essential
Telehandler certificate preferred
Ideal for someone looking to build experience in a large-scale, progressive dairy operation
