Full job description

Trident Metals is a specialist recycler of aerospace alloys, operating a unique small batch melting and casting process. Established in 1978 and based in Deeside, North Wales, we operate from a 30,000 ft² facility and supply high-purity re-melt secondary ingot (RSI) to global aerospace and aviation customers.

Producing approximately 8,000 tonnes annually, Trident Metals helps customers reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 98% through environmentally efficient, closed-loop recycling methods. We are proud of our reputation for quality, purity, and reliability while supporting sustainable supply chains.

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sample Analysis Technician to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the chemical composition and quality of our aerospace-grade aluminium products meet both customer and industry specifications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sampling and analysing predominantly 7000 series aluminium alloys using our spectrometer, interpreting results, preparing customer samples, and supporting quality assurance processes throughout the production cycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and an interest in metallurgy, laboratory operations, and quality systems. The role will develop over time to include greater involvement in customer certification documentation, quality reporting, and laboratory equipment management.

Key Responsibilities

Spectrometer Analysis

Prepare and analyse aluminium samples.
Accurately assess chemical composition results against customer and internal specifications.
Identify and escalate any non-conforming results to the relevant departments.

Sample Preparation and Customer Support

Cut, prepare, label, and package samples for customer approval and testing requirements.
Maintain accurate traceability records for all samples tested and dispatched.
Ensure customer samples are prepared to a consistently high standard.

Equipment Calibration and Maintenance

Perform daily calibration checks using certified master samples.
Verify calibration results and ensure equipment remains within specification.
Maintain calibration records and support ongoing laboratory quality controls.
Assist with annual servicing, maintenance, and validation activities carried out by Arun Technology and other approved service providers.

Quality Assurance

Cross-check alloy specifications against customer requirements and applicable standards.
Maintain accurate records and test reports.
Support investigations into quality issues and assist with corrective actions where required.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a laboratory setting, ideally within quality control environments
Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data accurately
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
Previous experience working with laboratory equipment

Technical Skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling samples and analysing results.
Ability to interpret technical specifications and follow procedures.
Strong level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications such as excel

Future Development

As the role develops, the successful candidate will become increasingly involved in customer certification documentation, quality reporting, laboratory system improvements, and supporting wider quality assurance activities across the business.

Pay: From £34,000.00 per year
