Primula Ltd, part of the Kavli Group, is a well-established food manufacturing organisation based in Team Valley, Gateshead. With a strong heritage and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement, we are proud of the products we produce and the people who make it happen.

We are currently seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving our manufacturing operations within a fast-paced production environment.

Shift Pattern – 3 Shift Rotation

Early Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Back Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Night Shift: Sunday – Friday, 10:00pm – 6:00am

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Lead Technician / Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving all machinery, services, and facilities across our Gateshead site to maximise productivity.

Key responsibilities include:

Carrying out breakdown repairs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Recording maintenance work within the M3 PPM system
Supporting root cause analysis and implementing improvements
Maintaining electrical systems in line with current legislation
Completing permits and risk assessments and ensuring safe handback to production
Managing spare parts usage and stock control
Assisting with installation, modification, and improvement of machinery and building services
Working closely with Production to support daily output targets
Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety standards

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a practical, proactive problem solver with a flexible attitude and a strong team ethic.

Essential Qualifications:

Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

Essential Experience & Skills:

Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience
Experience within a manufacturing or factory environment
Familiarity with PLCs, inverters, servo and DC drives, and instrumentation
Strong problem-solving ability and organisational skills
Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
Flexible attitude towards shift work and overtime
Strong commitment to Health & Safety

Desirable:

Engineering apprenticeship, BTEC or HNC
18th Edition
2394-01 Verification & Testing
Experience in food manufacturing
Steam boilers and systems knowledge
M3 system experience
IOSH or other H&S qualification
Food Hygiene qualification
