Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our caring team within a reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals while working in a supportive and professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with previous supervisory experience in senior care settings.

Responsibilities

Supervise and support junior care staff to ensure the delivery of compassionate and personalised care
Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
Develop, review, and implement personalised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members
Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any changes or concerns promptly
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the care home
Lead by example in delivering respectful, dignified, and empathetic care at all times
Support residents with medication management as per prescribed care plans
Maintain accurate documentation of care activities using IT systems effectively
Communicate effectively with residents, their families, healthcare professionals, and team members to ensure cohesive care delivery

Requirements

Proven experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care
Supervising or leadership experience in a similar setting is highly desirable
Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with residents and their families
Knowledge of care plans, health & safety procedures, and relevant legislation
IT literacy skills for maintaining accurate records and updating electronic systems
Valid driving licence is preferred but not essential; willingness to assist with transportation if required
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for elderly residents
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
