Full job description

Qualified Mechanical Fitter - Full Time
Pay: £16.83–£19.22/hr + 15% shift allowance
Shifts: 11.5-hour shifts (5 on/5 off, 4 on/4 off)
Location: Hemerdon Mine, PL7 5BS

Overview
Tungsten West plc is restarting the Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin mine in South Devon. We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter to support installation, maintenance, and reliability of heavy plant and processing equipment during rebuild, commissioning, and production.

Requirements

Based at Hemerdon Mine, ~10 miles northeast of Plymouth. No public transport to site. Own vehicle essential.
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical discipline
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Ability to read mechanical drawings
Experience in mining, quarrying, or heavy plant (desirable)
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Safety-conscious with good attention to detail

Key Responsibilities

Install, assemble, and commission mechanical systems and equipment
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plant machinery
Diagnose faults and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Read and work from mechanical drawings and specifications
Use tools, machinery, and precision measuring equipment safely
Complete inspections, testing, and maintenance records
Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and compliance standards
