Full job description

Drama Kids Background : With classes operating across the world, the Academy offers classes to children to help develop their confidence, creativity and communication skills through a unique curriculum, which covers improvisation, voice work and movement. The Academy helps children to speak out and become more confident in expressing themselves in a positive way, the classes and curriculum genuinely work with amazing results. Many of our UK classes have had students in attendance for over 15 years! The Gloucestershire Branch has over 250 students and hopes to continue expanding throughout the year.

Job Description : We are looking for a charismatic, lively, enthusiastic personality, with great integrity and honesty who can deliver the Drama Kids Curriculum with full energy and skill to a group of up to 25 children. The classes are split into age groups, 4-7yrs, 8-11yrs and Youth Theatre 11yrs-17yrs. Therefore we would like someone who can manage a group of this size with a positive attitude with the ability to encourage all students. Initially whilst training, the chosen candidate will work with a trainer and then will work alone when comfortable. All lesson plans and teaching materials are provided. You will also be required to speak to the Principal to communicate general class admin and so an organised person with good communication skills would be an advantage.

Desirable Skills : Integrity, energy, positive attitude and honesty along with skills in both teaching and performance, excellent communication, organisational skills and good common sense. Some experience in initiating and implementing improvisation. General desire to help children increase in confidence and self-esteem through drama. We are not a stage school and so we don’t cover singing and dancing disciplines. Teachers are welcome to add singing and dancing into their summer productions!

Location: Hatherley, Cheltenham (potential for other class locations too)

Qualifications : Must hold, or be working towards, qualifications in drama, performing arts or teaching or relevant experience.

Commitment : Must be available for classes 5-6pm on Wednesdays, term-time only. Potential opportunity for more hours if candidate was keen.

Job Type: Part-time

Wage: £15 - £23 per hour, depending on when training has finished and teaching independently

Expenses: 20p per mile after the first 10 miles.

Required licences or certifications:

Enhanced DBS Certificate (We can provide if needed)
Driving License

Pay: £15.00-£23.00 per hour
