We are a growing business, and we’re looking for a highly organised, commercially minded individual to take ownership of customer growth activity, marketing execution, and operational structure within the company. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role in a small but fast-moving team. You will work closely with leadership and directly alongside a part-time Sales & Purchasing Coordinator, who manages purchasing activity, supplier coordination, and sales order processing.
This role focuses on the commercial flow of the business — driving customer engagement, supporting marketing-led growth, improving pipeline discipline, and ensuring opportunities are actively progressed through the business. Although the role will predominantly be marketing driven, there will be administrative/customer facing aspects that will come with the role. Many of the additional administrative duties involve CRM updates and client research. This is ideal for someone who wants real ownership & variety in a role.
About the role:
You will be responsible for helping keep the business commercially structured, active, and growing.
You will ensure that:
- Customer enquiries are followed up consistently
- Sales opportunities are actively progressed and not lost in the system
- Marketing activity is executed and directly supports pipeline growth
- Customer relationships are developed and maintained
- Leadership has clear visibility of commercial activity and performance
You will act as a key connector between marketing activity, customer communication, sales progression, and operational delivery.
Responsibilities:
Marketing & growth execution (hands-on ownership):
- Take an active, hands-on role in driving marketing activity that supports business growth
- Manage CRM systems, pipeline organisation, and customer segmentation
- Create and execute customer follow-up campaigns and generate repeat business and referrals
- Coordinate customer testimonials, case studies, and project showcases
- Drive consistent lead follow-up processes, improve conversion from enquiry to order
- Work closely with leadership to implement practical, results-driven marketing initiatives
- Use modern technology, automation, and AI tools to improve marketing efficiency and output
Operational coordination (alongside sales & purchasing support role):
- Work alongside the part-time Sales & Purchasing Coordinator to ensure smooth order processing and supplier coordination
- Ensure commercial commitments are aligned with operational delivery
- Support scheduling and coordination between sales, suppliers, and engineering teams
- Help maintain structure across live projects and customer delivery activity
Customer & commercial coordination:
- Improve flow of customer communication across enquiries, quotations, and follow-ups
- Actively drive progression of sales opportunities through structured follow-up
- Build strong customer relationships throughout the sales cycle and beyond
- Improve conversion rates through consistent communication and engagement
- Ensure a high-quality and responsive customer experience
Systems & business organisation:
- Maintain accurate CRM and commercial data integrity
- Improve internal workflows, processes, and business structure
- Support reporting and visibility of commercial activity
- Help implement more efficient ways of working using systems and AI tools
We are looking for someone who is:
- Customer focussed, highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Commercially minded with an interest in sales and growth
- Confident taking ownership of marketing activity and follow-up processes
- Proactive, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving business environment
- Interested in marketing, systems, and business improvement
You may come from:
- Sales support or internal sales roles
- PA / Executive Assistant roles with commercial exposure
- Marketing coordination or CRM-based roles
- Operations or office management positions
- Customer service roles with strong commercial awareness
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
