Barista / Front of House (Part-Time)
Our recently opened bakery, deli and coffee shop is the latest venture from Chef's Table, one of Chester's longest-standing independent fine dining restaurants.
As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a part-time Barista / Front of House team member to join us, with particular availability on weekends, with primary hours being 9am-3pm. For the right candidate, there is the opportunity for the role to develop into a full-time position as business volumes increase.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about coffee and hospitality, takes pride in delivering excellent guest experiences, and understands that great service is just as important as great products. Candidates with strong front-of-house experience, good product knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with guests will be particularly well suited to the role.
Daily Duties to include:
- Prepare high-quality espresso-based drinks using professional espresso equipment
- Dial in espresso and maintain consistency throughout service
- Take customer orders and provide knowledgeable recommendations, including demonstrating good product knowledge of shop and deli products
- Serve coffee, pastries, baked goods, deli items and hot food to dine-in and takeaway guests
- Taking orders with some table service, communicating orders with kitchen and running food
- Understand the importance of food allergens, allergen labelling and cross-contamination
- Assist with basic bar service as we continue to expand our afternoon wine offering
- Carry out opening and closing duties
- Maintain clean, organised and well-presented customer and service areas
- Assist with stock management, display maintenance and general day-to-day operations
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure smooth and efficient service
About You
Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate:
- Confident espresso dialling-in and recipe management
- Consistent milk texturing across a range of drinks
- Latte art with consistency and attention to presentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A genuine desire to learn and develop professionally
Beyond this, we are looking for someone who:
- Has previous barista experience
- Has front-of-house hospitality experience and enjoys engaging with guests
- Demonstrates strong product knowledge and a genuine interest in food, coffee and wine
- Maintains high standards of service and presentation
- Works calmly and efficiently in a busy environment
- Is reliable, punctual and self-motivated
- Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Hours & Availability
- Part-time position
- Shift pattern 9am-3pm (Open 8:30am-4pm, Tues-Saturday)
- Weekend availability essential
- Opportunity for additional hours and progression to a full-time role as business volumes increase
Pay
- Starting pay of £12.75 per hour
