Calthrops Solicitors LLP is a long-established and highly respected law firm serving South Lincolnshire and North Cambridgeshire for over 175 years. With offices in Spalding and Holbeach, the firm provides expert legal services across residential and commercial property, family law, wills and probate, and business law.

We are now seeking an experienced Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join our busy Property Department and play a key role in delivering a smooth, high-quality conveyancing experience for our clients. We’re looking for a proactive and organised Conveyancing Legal Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced legal environment and takes pride in delivering excellent client service.

The Role

You will provide essential support to fee earners within the conveyancing team, assisting with a varied caseload of residential property transactions from instruction through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and managing client files
Conducting conflict checks and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks in accordance with compliance procedures
Preparing legal documents and correspondence
Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, and third parties
Carrying out ID checks and Land Registry searches
Preparing SDLT return documentation and submitting SDLT returns
Preparing and submitting AP1 applications to HM Land Registry
Assisting with exchange and completion processes
Handling post-completion matters
Maintaining accurate records and case management systems
Providing excellent client care throughout the transaction process

About You

The successful candidate will:

Have previous experience working within a conveyancing or residential property department
Have knowledge of conveyancing procedures, including post-completion matters
Be organised, proactive, and able to manage a busy workload
Possess excellent communication and client care skills
Have strong attention to detail
Be confident using case management systems and Microsoft Office
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
