Job Title: Support Staff
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Staff to join our team. The Support Staff will play a vital role in assisting senior staff and children, providing individualised support to children with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children with SEND, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of our educational programs.
Responsibilities:
Assist senior staff in delivering engaging and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of children. Provide one-on-one or small group support to children who require additional assistance with academic tasks, behaviour management, or social skills development. Support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in activities. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment by fostering a sense of belonging, respect, and collaboration among children. Assist with playroom management, including implementing behaviour management strategies, maintaining discipline, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children. Prepare instructional materials, resources, and equipment for lessons and activities, as directed by the teacher. Supervise children during activities, transitions, and break times, ensuring compliance with the provision's policies and procedures. Provide feedback to senior staff on children progress, behaviour, and engagement, contributing to ongoing assessment and monitoring efforts. Assist with administrative tasks, such as record-keeping, organising materials, and communicating with parents or guardians as needed. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance job knowledge and skills. Adhere to the provision's policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent qualification required, additional qualifications in education or related field preferred.
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred. Knowledge of child development principles, learning styles, and behaviour management techniques. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, teachers, and parents or guardians. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information and instructions to others. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting the goals and objectives of the setting and individual children. Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children. Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and meet the diverse needs of children and staff. Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all children.
