About Us
Restoration Force is a specialist fire, flood and property restoration company providing emergency response, drying, reinstatement and insurance repair services across the North East.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a Damp & Leak Detection Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in property maintenance, construction, plumbing, insurance repairs or a multi-trade background who has a good understanding of buildings and enjoys problem-solving.
Working across domestic and commercial properties, you will play a key role in identifying the causes of dampness, water ingress and leaks, whilst preparing properties for restoration and reinstatement works and supporting our wider operational teams.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out damp inspections, moisture investigations, leak tracing and trace and access works within residential and commercial properties.
You will use specialist equipment and your practical knowledge of property construction to investigate issues, identify causes and provide detailed reports. You will also assist in preparing affected properties for restoration and reinstatement works by carrying out controlled strip-out activities where required.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, requiring a practical approach, excellent customer service and the ability to work independently whilst supporting the wider Restoration Force team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct damp and moisture surveys within residential and commercial properties
- Use moisture meters and specialist equipment to identify dampness, water ingress and moisture-related issues
- Carry out trace and access works to identify the source of leaks and damp problems
- Complete detailed reports, photographs and documentation for insurers, clients and internal teams
- Prepare properties for restoration and reinstatement works by carrying out controlled strip-out activities
- Remove and refit radiators, toilets, vanity units, kitchen units and other fixtures where required to enable access and facilitate restoration works
- Lift flooring, floor coverings and remove sections of ceilings, walls and boxing-in to expose affected areas and assist restoration teams
- Work closely with restoration technicians and reinstatement teams to ensure projects progress efficiently
- Assist with fire and flood restoration projects when required
- Support reinstatement and insurance repair works following restoration projects
- Maintain excellent customer service whilst working within occupied properties
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within residential or commercial properties
- Good understanding of building construction and property maintenance
- Practical experience using hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to identify common causes of damp, condensation, water ingress and leaks
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to complete reports and paperwork accurately
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Professional and customer-focused attitude
