Full job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, customer-focused Mobility Engineer to join our growing team. This is a varied hands-on role involving the servicing, repair, delivery, setup, and demonstration of a wide range of mobility equipment.

The successful candidate will work both in our workshop and at customer locations that are mostly local, supporting people who rely on mobility and daily living equipment to maintain their independence and quality of life.

This role combines mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills with excellent customer service and professionalism.

This role might suit someone who is technically minded and looking for a change of career.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service & Repair

· Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on:

- Mobility scooters

- Powerchairs

- Manual wheelchairs

- Adjustable and profiling beds

- Rise and recline chairs

- Associated mobility and daily living equipment

· Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and safety inspections.

· Troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical issues, including:

- Batteries and charging systems

- Motors and controllers

- Braking systems

- Wiring and electrical components

- Mechanical assemblies and moving parts

· Maintain accurate service records and job documentation.

· Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

Deliveries & Demonstrations

· Deliver mobility equipment to customers’ homes and care environments.

· Set up and demonstrate equipment safely and clearly.

· Ensure customers understand how to operate and maintain their equipment.

· Provide a reassuring and supportive customer experience.

· Collect and return equipment where required.

Customer Service

· Represent us professionally at all times.

· Build trust and rapport with customers, carers, and healthcare professionals.

· Show patience, empathy, and respect when working with vulnerable or elderly customers.

· Maintain a clean, presentable appearance and company vehicle.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

· Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering skills.

· Basic to intermediate electrical fault-finding ability.

· Experience using hand and power tools safely.

· Ability to diagnose and repair equipment faults independently.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Full UK driving licence.

· Organised, reliable, and self-motivated.

· Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

· Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

· Experience working with mobility equipment or healthcare products.

· Knowledge of batteries, motors, control systems, or low-voltage electrical systems.

· Previous field service or workshop engineering experience.

· PAT testing or relevant engineering qualifications.

· Experience delivering products directly to customers.
