Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Cold Store Operative to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling materials within a temperature-controlled environment, ensuring efficient stock movement and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. This includes ensuring all produce is supplied to our customers in full and on time. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience to support the day-to-day efficient running of the warehouse and logistics functions while further developing their skills in a dynamic setting.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Inbounding

Unloading lorries in a safe and efficient manner
Receive, check, and identify deliveries including returns
Manual palletising, shrink wrapping of pallets (lifting up to 25kg)
Transfer goods to warehouse
Ensure deliveries are put away to the appropriate warehouse location

Picking & Packing

Pick and pack customer orders ensuring quality targets are met and waste reduction is kept to a minimum
Secondary packing of pasta products (bags / trays into outer boxes)
Maintain accurate picking records
Raise and maintain accurate packing slips
Ensure the correct traceability procedures are carried out for all picks, packing and stock replenishment movements
Perform stock take checks and cycle counts and keep stock control systems up to date
Alert warehouse manager of any stock issues
Prepare and pack goods for dispatch or pickup accurately, on time and in accordance with packing list
Shrink wrap pallets
Maintain cleanliness and order in the warehouse, goods receiving and dispatch areas
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and housekeeping at all times
Transfer completed picks to dispatch
Assist in performing all duties in compliance with related legal/statutory, regulations, professional duties, responsibilities, and obligations.

Dispatch

Transfer goods to lorries
Load lorries in a safe and efficient manner
Ensure all dispatch documentation is created and completed

Equipment

Forklift truck / stacker truck operations
To use all equipment provided in a safe and correct manner, in accordance with
Company procedures and safety rules
Take care of all Company equipment, FLT, trolleys, power pallet etc.

Team Role: Individual Contributor

Follow Company policies and procedures in order to deliver quality products and services
Identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement
Contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables
Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules, and instructions; and reporting workplace hazards, incidents, or injuries to manager

KEY INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

Essential

Education: GCSE English and Math

Work Experience:

Experience of working in a food production environment
Numerical literacy and reading skills
Excellent attention to details and a meticulous approach to work
Good time management and ability to work to deadlines
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Teamplayer

Technical Skills

Highly organised with an eye to detail, able to participate and resolve problems, prioritising and calling out issues that arise.
Computer literate

Soft Skills

Strong work and moral ethics
Resourceful and able to thrive both as an individual and as part of a team
Self-starte with a can-do attitude and a proactive and positive outlook

Language Skills: Proficient , fluent verbal and written English

Useful to Have

Valid forklift license
WMS systems

Pay: From £27,000.00 per year
