Full job description

This position is for applicants aged 18 and over only, due to job requirements including Age Restricted Sales. This is a seasonal vacancy at an independently run shop on a Holiday Park on the outskirts of Newquay. Immediate start with in-house training provided. Upon successful completion of training in store, the Assistant Manager Wage will increase.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing daily store operations, including inventory management, sales and customer service.
Lead, supervise, and motivate team members to deliver exceptional customer service.
Handle customer queries, inquiries and requests with professionalism and in a timely manner.
Implement sales strategies and promotional activities to increase store revenue.
Maintain organisational standards, including cleanliness, safety procedures, and administrative tasks such as reporting sales figures and staff schedules.
Support the management in achieving business objectives through effective team management and leadership.

Requirements

Own transport necessary due to shift patterns
Proven experience in retail management or supervisory roles within a retail environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrable organisational skills with attention to detail in merchandising and administrative tasks.
Experience in sales management, stock control, and visual merchandising techniques.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
Previous experience in supervising staff, managing schedules, and overseeing daily operations.
Proficiency in organisational software or point-of-sale systems is preferred.
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of customer service. This role offers an engaging environment for individuals passionate about retail management who wish to develop their leadership capabilities while contributing positively to our store’s success.

Summary

In the role as Assistant Shop Manager, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient sales management and exceptional customer service. Reporting to the Shop Manager and Area Manager, you will leverage your leadership and team management skills to motivate staff and drive sales performance, playing a vital role in achieving the shops goals and fostering a positive shopping experience for all patrons.
