As we continue to evolve, we are looking for a professional, calm, and proactive Self-employed Barber to join our team.
St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprises of eight units that cover medium and low security for both Men and Women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled self-employed barber to provide regular hairdressing and grooming services within a mental health hospital setting. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on patients’ wellbeing, confidence, and dignity through professional grooming services.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide barbering services including haircuts, beard trims, and basic grooming
- Work sensitively with patients experiencing a range of mental health conditions
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and supportive approach at all times
- Ensure all tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained to high hygiene standards
- Manage your own appointments and schedule in coordination with ward staff
- Adhere to hospital policies, including infection control and safeguarding procedures
Requirements

Fully qualified barber (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent preferred)
- Proven experience in barbering
- Public liability insurance (essential)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and professionalism
