Academies: Outwood Academy Newbold - 1 FTE, permanent and Outwood Academy Hasland Hall - 0.8 FTE, temporary

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic Teachers of Science, one with a background in health and/or ability to teach on our science T Level in Health would be a distinct advantage at Outwood Academy Newbold. With a part time Teacher of Science at Outwood academy Hasland Hall. You will have good subject knowledge, a passion for Science, and want students to love Science as much as we do. The NIoT identifies best practice in education, in order to develop cutting-edge, evidence-based teacher training and professional development programmes. OGAT colleagues will benefit from the work of the institute, which draws on the expertise of some of the most outstanding school leaders in education today. For our ECT colleagues a full and detailed programme of support and development, including science subject specialism support will be provided.
Our Science departments in both academies are an eclectic mix of staff ranging from ECTs to those that have been teaching for over twenty years. We pride ourselves on having high expectations and aspirations for all of our students while delivering fun and engaging lessons. The team has great rapport and is fully supportive of each other and are welcoming to all newcomers. We have secured good results for a number of years and are always looking for ways to be creative and inventive in our approach to teaching.
The Newbold department is made up of an Head of Department, Second in Department, T Level leads and eight teaching members of staff. The department is also supported by a senior science technician and a lab technician. We have 7 fully equipped labs with most staff having their own lab with a T Level Heath suite and an Animal Care suite.
The Hasland department is made up of an acting Head of Department, Second in Department and six teaching members of staff. The department is also supported by a senior science technician and a lab technician. We have 6 fully equipped labs with most staff having their own lab.
In both academies, staff can teach in their specialisms or cover the full range of sciences. We are fully supportive and will work with you to ensure you feel part of the team and are offered the CPD to enable them to thrive.
