General Maintenance & Project Build Operative
Location: Tattershall Farm Park, Tattershall
Salary: From £31,000 per annum
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 42.5 hours per week including one day of the weekend.
About Us
Tattershall Farm Park is a busy family visitor attraction with a wide variety of animals, play areas, events and seasonal experiences. No two days are ever the same, and we're continually developing and improving our facilities for visitors and animals alike.
We're looking for a practical, hands-on individual to join our team and help maintain, improve and develop the park.
The Role
This is a varied role combining general maintenance, grounds work, repair tasks and project work across the farm park. Its a fun job, and every day is different.
You'll work independently on planned maintenance tasks and reactive repairs, while also supporting larger improvement and development projects alongside the wider team.
As part of a small and flexible team, there will also be occasions where you'll assist with basic animal care and husbandry duties when required, particularly during busy periods, staff holidays or special events.
Key Responsibilities
- General building maintenance and repairs
- Carpentry and joinery tasks
- Painting and decorating
- Basic plumbing repairs and installations
- Minor electrical works (within competence and training)
- Finishing works
- Drainage maintenance and repairs
- Grounds maintenance and gardening
- Fencing and external works
- Go Kart repair and servicing
- Supporting new project builds and site improvements
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
- Fire Alarm, Perimeter Fence and other Daily H & S Checks
- Assisting with animal care duties when required
What We're Looking For
You will be someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in completing jobs to a high standard and is happy turning their hand to a wide variety of tasks.
Essential
- Full UK driving licence
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a building trade, maintenance or property maintenance role
- Practical multi-trade skills across a range of maintenance disciplines
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
Desirable
- City & Guilds Craft Certificate, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent trade qualification
- Experience operating machinery and tools
- Previous experience working in a visitor attraction, agricultural or rural environment
- Previous experience in building trade or confident DIY skills
- Experience with animal care or livestock handling
Physical Requirements
The role involves a significant amount of physical activity including:
- Lifting and carrying materials
- Bending, kneeling and reaching
- Loading and unloading equipment
- Climbing ladders and working safely at height
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Being on your feet for much of the working day
