Job Purpose
To enhance the wellbeing, independence, and quality of life of older adults attending Heritage Lounge by planning, preparing, and leading a varied programme of meaningful activities. The Activity Facilitator will be responsible for directly running group and individual activities, ensuring attendees are actively engaged, while also preparing future activity programmes and training staff to confidently facilitate activities that promote social interaction, physical wellbeing, cognitive stimulation, and enjoyment.
Key ResponsibilitiesActivity Planning, Preparation and Delivery
- Plan, organise and lead daily activities for older adults attending Heritage Lounge.
- Facilitate a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities that promote wellbeing, independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
- Actively encourage participation and adapt activities to meet the differing needs, abilities, and preferences of attendees.
- Ensure activities are engaging, meaningful, enjoyable, and person-centred.
- Prepare activity plans, resources, equipment, and materials in advance to ensure activities are delivered to a high standard.
- Research and develop new activities and programmes that support the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive wellbeing of attendees.
- Monitor participation and gather feedback to continuously improve the activity programme.
Staff Training and Support
- Support staff members to confidently facilitate activities within Heritage Lounge.
- Deliver practical coaching and guidance on engaging older adults in meaningful activities.
- Support staff to understand the importance of activity-based wellbeing and person-centred engagement.
- Develop activity resources and guidance that staff can use independently.
- Promote a culture where all staff actively contribute to providing meaningful activities and social engagement opportunities.
General Responsibilities
- Promote dignity, independence, choice, and inclusion at all times.
- Build positive relationships with attendees, families, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ensure all activities are delivered safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records relating to activities, participation, and outcomes.
- Support special events, celebrations, and community engagement opportunities throughout the year.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in caregiving, elder care, or a similar role is preferred.
- Experience facilitating activities with adult care recipients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to delivering exceptional services.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive environment.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
