Full job description

Please note this venue is located in Midmar, Inverurie, AB51 7NB. Free use of the company van available to travel to the venue. Forest Cafe is around a 30 minute drive from Aberdeen city.

Forest Cafe is based in the Treehouse home store at Midmar, Inverurie.

Forest is a busy countryside cafe serving breakfast, lunch, coffee and cakes. Candidates will be expected to work in an extremely fast paced, cafe environment. Quick turn arounds, fast friendly service and delicious food being our core!

Our cafe serves food from 10am to 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday. Giving an excellent work-life balance in the hospitality industry!

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced cafe environment.

As a Head Chef you will play a vital role in ensuring that our dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation. You will work closely with the General Manager and Kitchen Team to maintain a push sales, manage budgets, lead your team, cook delicious food while focusing on keeping a clean and organised kitchen while adhering to all food and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items to high standards as well as being creative with daily specials and events.
Improve and better the kitchen practices.
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
Maintain all records, checks and paperwork.
Be accountable for all ordering, inventory levels and kitchen GP margins (Note: stocktakes are carried out by an external 3rd party).
Keep the kitchen area clean, organised, and free from hazards.
Lead and develop the kitchen team.
Maintain staffing levels on budget.
Be fully responsible and accountable for you kitchen.

Requirements

Proven experience in a Head Chef position or similar senior kitchen role.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
Ability to work well under pressure and at speed, while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work independently for set up, service and clean down
A passion for cooking and creativity in food presentation.
Financial understanding of GP, labour and budgeting (training will be given on this, however a base knowledge is required)

£33,000 per annum
45 hours per week
28 days holiday per annum
