Production Operative

Permanent. 40 hours a week Monday - Thursday 6am - 4.45pm

Holker Group have an exciting opportunity to join Burlington Stone based in Kirkby in Furness within the Manufacturing Department as a Production Operative at the Quarry.

The Holker Group is a diverse range of property-based businesses in South Cumbria operated by the Cavendish family. The landholding comprises approximately 17,000 acres and lies principally around the northern stretches of Morecambe Bay in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Holker Group of Companies operate diverse business enterprises including let property, farming, forestry, leisure and tourism, stone and slate quarrying, property development and estate agency.

Burlington Stone is a prestigious manufacturer of British natural stone which has been quarried for over 400 years in the heart of the English Lake District. Our iconic stones are the most sustainable building materials available using all the products from the extraction process to enhance the built environment.

Salary: £13.35 per hour.

Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

Person Specification
Ideally the candidate will have experience of working in the stone industry, however this is not essential. This is a physically demanding role and requires the role holder to have some experience in and aptitude for manual work. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a team and on own initiative, possessing strong communication skills. Having the flexibility around working hours is essential, on the occasion you are required to work additional hours. A CNC would be advantageous but not required.

A driving licence and vehicle is essential due to the location of the site as there is no public transport nearby.

Sawing
Packing / un packing stone products
Drilling stone
Packing stone
Loading/unloading deliveries
Stone selection
Splitting / riving
Dressing slate
