Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess strong customer service skills, as you will also interact with pet owners. This position requires physical stamina, including heavy lifting, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for our greyhound guests.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by regularly cleaning cages, kennels, and common areas.
Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to the Manager
Assist with the intake and discharge of pets, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' needs and well-being.
Supporting other members of staff and volunteers
Follow all safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both animals and staff.

Qualifications

Previous experience in animal care or a related field is essential
Full driving licence essential.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as required (up to 25 kg).
A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare.
Basic knowledge of veterinary care is an advantage but not mandatory.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
