HGV Class 1 Tramping Driver

Location: based from Kent- Nationwide (UK-Wide Operations)
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience, overtime, and seasonal working patterns)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Peak Season: June – September
Working Pattern: 5-6 days from 7 during peak operational periods, including weekends and nights away.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and professional HGV Class 1 (C+E) Tramping Drivers to join our busy and growing Events Infrastructure team. Operating nationwide, you will play a vital role in delivering, collecting, and supporting the movement of equipment used at some of the UK's largest festivals, sporting events, exhibitions, outdoor shows, and major live events.

This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic. During but not limited to our peak season (June to September). Drivers should expect to work 5-6 days per week as part of a dedicated team supporting high-profile projects across the country.

The role involves regular overnight stays in the vehicle, working to tight event schedules, and representing the company professionally while on customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) articulated vehicles throughout the UK.
Deliver and collect event infrastructure equipment to and from event sites, depots, and customer locations.
Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported in accordance with legal and company requirements.
Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
Maintain accurate records including tachograph compliance, delivery paperwork, and digital documentation.
Work closely with transport planners, site managers, and event crews to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
Assist with loading and unloading operations where required.
Adhere to all Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, and company policies.
Represent the company professionally at all times when dealing with clients, contractors, and event organisers.
Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and care.
Support operational requirements during busy event periods, including weekend work and extended shifts where legally permitted.

What We're Looking ForEssential Requirements

Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
Current Driver CPC Qualification.
Digital Tachograph Card.
Excellent understanding of Driver Hours and Working Time Regulations.
Minimum 2 years' Class 1 driving experience preferred.
Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong commitment to health and safety.
Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and overnight tramping.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience within events, exhibitions, construction logistics, plant transport, or specialist haulage.
Experience delivering to challenging sites, festivals, outdoor events, and temporary infrastructure projects.
Moffett, HIAB, or forklift experience (training may be provided).
Experience with curtain-side trailers, flatbeds, and specialist event equipment transport.

Working Conditions

Nationwide travel with regular overnight stays in the vehicle.
Peak operational period from June to September requiring increased availability.
Mixture of depot work, event site deliveries, and customer collections.
Early starts, late finishes, and weekend work will form part of the role.
Working outdoors and in varying weather conditions when attending event sites.
