Job Title

DG Chemicals Laboratory / Warehouse Operator

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe handling, storage, labeling, testing support, and movement of Dangerous Goods (DG) chemicals within laboratory and warehouse environments while ensuring compliance with UK health, safety, and hazardous materials regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and store DG chemicals safely
Maintain accurate stock and inventory records
Prepare chemical samples for laboratory testing
Ensure proper labeling according to GHS/CLP standards
Follow COSHH and HSE regulations
Handle chemical waste disposal procedures
Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet trucks or forklifts
Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Monitor storage conditions and segregation of hazardous chemicals
Support laboratory technicians and QA/QC teams
Report spills, incidents, or safety hazards immediately
Maintain cleanliness and safety of laboratory and warehouse areas

Skills & Requirements

Knowledge of Dangerous Goods handling procedures
Understanding of COSHH regulations
Basic laboratory and warehouse experience
Good communication and record-keeping skills
Ability to follow safety procedures strictly
Forklift licence (preferred)
DG/ADR/IATA training (advantageous)
Basic computer and inventory system knowledge

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Laboratory, chemistry, or warehouse certification preferred
DG handling certification is an advantage

UK Compliance Knowledge

COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
HSE safety regulations
CLP/GHS chemical labeling standards
ADR/IATA/IMDG dangerous goods regulations
