Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care home. The successful candidate will plan, implement, and oversee engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of our residents, including those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents through creative and person-centred activities, fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being. The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience in senior care environments, with a strong understanding of care plans and behaviour management strategies.

Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate a diverse programme of activities that promote socialisation, cognitive function, and physical well-being for residents.
Personalise activities to meet individual needs, preferences, and care requirements, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
Collaborate with nursing staff and care teams to incorporate therapeutic activities into personalised care plans.
Lead activity sessions such as arts and crafts, music therapy, light exercise programmes, and recreational outings.
Monitor residents’ engagement levels and adapt activities accordingly to maximise participation and enjoyment.
Maintain accurate records of activity participation and outcomes in accordance with organisational policies.
Assist with medication administration as required within scope of practice.
Ensure health and safety standards are upheld during all activities, including risk assessments for outings or specialised interventions.
Support residents with mobility challenges or behavioural issues through tailored engagement strategies.
Organise transport arrangements for outings or appointments when necessary, ensuring safe driving practices.

Skills

Proven experience in senior care settings such as care homes or assisted living environments.
Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer’s care principles, including behaviour management techniques.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging programmes that cater to diverse needs.
Compassionate approach with strong communication skills to connect effectively with residents, families, and team members.
