Experienced Engine Build Technician

Nicholson Mclaren Engines UK Ltd – Wokingham, Berkshire

THE COMPANY

Nicholson Mclaren Engines UK Ltd – based near Wokingham, Berkshire is a name synonymous with engine building and engine development since the 1970s.

Due to continued growth, we currently have a vacancy for a keen individual to support and work alongside our engineering team in our modern engine build workshop.

We are looking for a motivated individual to be responsible for the build and rebuild of engines and assemblies to include assembling dismantling, measuring and rebuilding all components.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our engine build technicians are responsible for the build and rebuild of high - performance internal combustion engines, to include assembling dismantling, measuring and rebuilding all components.

The successful candidate will be focused with a keen eye for attention to detail and able to maintain a consistently high level of performance and quality despite working in a pressurised, time sensitive environment.

You will be experienced in this industry and possess the ability to work alone or in partnership with other members of the team as required.

Hours: Full-Time 40 Hours per week Monday to Thursday. (Four-day week).

The Role:

· Full engine build.

· Build engine assemblies, inspection and measurement of critical components as defined.

· Strip engine assemblies, inspection and measurement of critical components as defined. Strip subcomponents of engine assemblies.

· Pre and post-test inspection prior to engine test/shipment. Record and maintain all build data and keep records up to date.

· Report faults and record information.

The ideal candidate should be: -

Experienced in engine building (essential).
Confident in taking on a complete engine teardown and rebuild to a very high standard.
Able to build and create new engines.
Able to calculate cam/ignition timing, compression ratios etc.
Familiar with using specialist tooling required for measuring/inspection.
Read & understand technical drawings.

· Manual dexterity.

· PC literate.

Capable of developing a build book/report writing.
Dyno Testing and software calibration an advantage but not essential.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

Self-motivated, tidy and organised.
Very good attention to detail with excellent time management skills.
Ability to work as a team member or confident alone.

· Must have own tools and transport.

· Able to meet deadlines and willing to adjust working hours to achieve these.
